Where you’ll work
Roxor-Abrasives in Best manufactures customer-specific grinding wheels for industry. These grinding wheels are used in machines to machine metal parts very precisely and to finish them neatly, including for suppliers in the automotive sector.
What makes Roxor special: this is not assembly-line work. Much of the work is true craftsmanship and is made to order, with quality as the most important principle. In Best you work in a compact team (production and office) where colleagues have often been with the company for many years. The company has been around for more than 60 years and the order book is well filled.
What you’ll do
As a production worker at Roxor-Abrasives in Best, you will make grinding wheels and segments ranging from approx. 90 mm to 1500 mm in diameter. We do this largely by hand, and you will learn the trade on the job. You work accurately, keep going when needed, and you will literally see a product being created that is used worldwide in industry. During your onboarding period you will learn step by step to work independently. After that you will be given a lot of personal responsibility; often you will also work alone on a specific operation or order. What you will do in practice:
- Inspect incoming orders/parts (quality comes first)
- Process raw materials: 20–25 kg containers are topped up with the correct raw materials and you process them in the mixer
- Put the mixture into the correct shape/mould for the grinding wheel
- Place the moulds in the oven; after curing, the wheel can be further processed
- Neatly finish grinding wheels on the lathe
- Depending on your technical aptitude, you can be trained over time to operate (one of) our machines
This is physical work where you use your hands and sometimes get dirty. You do not need experience with grinding wheels: we will teach you this trade internally.
This is you
You are a good fit at Roxor if you like hands-on work, work neatly, and simply do what is needed to complete an order properly. You do not need a specific education; what matters more is that you want to learn and take responsibility. What we consider important:
- You are physically fit; you lift/work with raw materials in 20–25 kg containers
- You like rolling up your sleeves and do not mind getting your hands dirty
- You can work independently, but also help colleagues when needed
- You speak Dutch or English (English only is also fine)
Experience in a production environment is a plus, especially if you are used to craftsmanship rather than assembly-line work.
